Tag Archives: wire wrapping

I now have a little of my wire work on display in a local cafe. Which is pretty cool.

I spent a while on Friday setting out some of my creations in one of the display cabinets at the lovely Fresh Coffee Shop (Dunfermline). It’s a fantastic and very friendly cafe, well worth a visit if you’re local.

Here’s a few wee pictures of how it turned out:

I’m quite glad its all set up now, this week has been a wire week and I’ve been itching to get the paints back out again for another wee play.

I spent Saturday morning happily painting and making.

It was a real treat being able to spend time being arty and crafty.

The painting was just a wee one of Castle Cambell and the Ochil Hills as a wedding gift for a friend. A little bit of  Scotland for them to take to their new home together in London.

I also made a nice seaglass necklace and earring set.

I’m looking forward to try and get some more arty time this Saturday….now just to think of a project…hmm…paints? Jewellery? Wire?

Every year some time in the week after Christmas my dads side of the family go on a trip to the beach together, despite the freezing weather. We all head out to Kinshaldy beach (next to Tentsmuir Forest in Fife) and go a long walk along the beach, fulled by hot soup and tea. Afterwards we go back to my grandparents house to warm up, spend some more time together  and usually order take away food.

This year my youngest cousin spent most of the walk gathering shells which I helped her wash at our grandparents house, afterwards she very kindly presented me with her favorite shell in thanks for my help.

The shell has sat on a shelf since the end of December.

I’ve been spending a lot more time with my youngest cousin recently, she’s very clever and sweet. She talks a lot about how much she enjoys gathering shells, she often brings out her collection to show me and offers to share them with me.

Yesterday I decided to take the shell down from the shelf and add it to a wee necklace as a gift for her.

I think she’ll like it.

I tried to have another break from painting yesterday so I spent some time making another wire bird decorative hanger.

I think he’s quite sweet.

I like the cool colours as well as his icey eye bead.

(though he does get a little lost against the berberis bush)

My sea glass pendants are done, they’ve turned out fine even though I’m out of practice.

I’d like to really spend some time working on techniques and doing more wire wrapping. But I’d also like to spend more time doing just about all my different arty crafty activities. It’s really nice to have so many interests and to chop and change what I want to do each day, but at the same time I feel like I miss out on really developing skills.

Anyway here is a wee picture of the pendants I made this evening, I don’t think I have a favorite.

I really love sea glass, the variety of colours and shapes, the way the light catches and illuminates.

I also really enjoy finding the sea glass in first place and thinking about where it might have came from.
