In the wake of some less successful watercolour experiments I’ve spent a bit less time than usual on my arty projects, only really making some cards for various family birthdays.

On and off I have been working on some fineliner drawings, I’ll likely finish them with watercolour paints but I haven’t quite made the leap yet.

The first is another harbour type scene since I really liked the general idea last time.

And the other is a stormy scene inspired by the wonderful work of childrens illustrator Il Sung Na. (http://www.ilsungna.com/home.htm)

Something a little different for me, fine liner and watercolour.

I’ve been painting!

It’s great to have been painting again after all my wire work in the last wee while, I decided that I’d have another go with watercolours. I unearthed some photos I took up near Ullapool a few years ago and chose one of Loch Broom to use.

Here’s the result:

Loch Broom

It’s fine, It hasn’t photographed particularly well but it’s ok. I enjoyed painting it but I’m not convinced by the result.

I now have a little of my wire work on display in a local cafe. Which is pretty cool.

I spent a while on Friday setting out some of my creations in one of the display cabinets at the lovely Fresh Coffee Shop (Dunfermline). It’s a fantastic and very friendly cafe, well worth a visit if you’re local.

Here’s a few wee pictures of how it turned out:

I’m quite glad its all set up now, this week has been a wire week and I’ve been itching to get the paints back out again for another wee play.

I’m not really used to painting with watercolours, I worked with them a bit in high school but that was really it.

Recently I thought I’d give them another go, here’s the result:

Harry the horse

For Christmas I gave out lots of arty/crafty gifts.

Here’s a wee photie of the goldfinch I painted for my grandparents. They often see goldfinches in their garden and are quite attached to the wee birdies.

It’s already a month into the new year…I’m not really sure how that happened or where the month went.

Oh well.

It’s been quite a while since I did any bloggy stuff, I’ve been doing plenty of arty stuff but just not really documenting it, partly because of camera problems (I lost the memory card).

Anyway I do have a few pictures of some of the things I’ve been up to and I fully intend to look for my memory card at some point, soonish, maybe later.

So here is a wee painting of Sammy the Samoyed;

Sammy

I really really hate painting white dogs. Really. (I painted Sammy under duress, it’s amazing what parents can guilt you into doing when they put their minds to it.)

I’ve still been painting lots of silhouette style paintings, birds and landscapes mostly.

Here’s a seascape that I tried to add a bit more light into;

The Lighthouse

And another of my birds on wire paintings.

Orange Bird

I’m planning on posting a bit more regularly again…so keep an eye out.
